Second Hand Fine Art provides a forum for collectors to buy and sell fine art directly with other collectors eliminating the need to pay huge gallery markups.

A typical gallary will pay an artist or private collector only 1/3 to 1/2 of the sales price of artwork. By buying and selling directly through the owners, you can avoid the middleman markup creating a more efficient transaction for both buyer and seller. Artists are often restricted from selling their work at below gallery prices by the galleries that represent them. This makes the second hand market the perfect place to find great deals on high end art.

Currently there are limited venues to sell art as a collector. The large auction houses are options for high end art but they take a significant percentage. Ebay or other online auctions are also possible choices but as with all auctions, they require a potential buyer who knows the artists, understands the value of the work, and likes the piece to view the art in a specific period of time.

Second Hand Fine Art is a listing service. For a small fee, a collector can list their work until it sells. We ask that every three months a listing be 'renewed' at no cost to ensure all our listings are currently available.

We welcome listings by artists but only if the work is listed below gallery pricing. Since many artists are restricted from doing this, please consider listing your artist seconds. Just make sure the description clearly states they are seconds.

During our initial launch all fees are waived.

The fee structure is simple. There is no charge for buyers. There are no fees when a piece sells. We charge either $20 per piece to list a single item or $100 a year for a single collector to list as many pieces as they wish whenever they wish.
